what is the best way to promote an alternative energy business?
I have recently started an alternative energy with very cost effective products (wind water and solar) which I am finding very hard to promote even with a website
Firstly, try to position ur product, i think 2 ways r there like eco friendly future energy concept other is cost effective so price competitive approch. But if u chose eco friendly approcah u can keep a high profit margin and do so. So the real question is how to promote? It also depend on ur target market. If its the upper sector indivial market then l guess personal selling will be one attractive way as the product is technical. And this way will also can be used for B2B market. Other way is trade fairs this way u can demostrate the product with a big target audience. If u choose the low cost positioning l guess a consumenr fair or local press will do a good job. Since u r targeting international consumenrs one suggestion is seek for agents in other counties. As l mention energy business is quite technical so l guess internet still now is not much reacherble for these market. Goodluck to u. And thks for the additional details.
How to calculate how much energy converted from Solar Energy to Electricity?
Dear All,
How can I calculate how much energy converted from solar energy to Electricity? Does it based on the how strong of the sunlight? Does it based on how many solar cell? Any detail equations for this purpose?
Thanks a lot.
Holly
Taken from wiki:
"At solar noon on a clear March or September equinox day, the solar radiation at the equator is about 1000 W/m2. Hence, the "standard" solar radiation (known as the "air mass 1.5 spectrum") has a power density of 1000 watts per square meter. Thus, a 12% efficiency solar cell having 1 m² of surface area in full sunlight at solar noon at the equator during either the March or September equinox will produce approximately 120 watts of peak power."
No solar cell is 100% efficient. For example. most commercially available solar cells are only 14-16% efficient. Meaning that they can only convert 14-16% of the sunlight that shines on them into electricity. As stated above, in good conditions the sun shines down about 1000 watts on every square meter of ground. But due to inefficiencies, a typical solar cell that has a surface area of 1 square meter, will probably only produce 150 watts of power. formula: 1000 watts per square meter times .15( 15%)=150 watts. The exact number of solar cells doesn’t matter. Just add up the size of all your cells and figure out how many total square meters of solar cells you have. and then multiply that number times the efficiency of your cells, around 15% perhaps and multiply that times 1000. If you have 2 small cells that both have .25 square meters of surface area. add them together. .25 + .25 =.5 The formula becomes .5(square meters of solar cell X 1000(watts of light per square meter from the sun) X 15%(typical solar cell efficiency) = .5 * 1000 * .15 = 75 watts of electricity. Not sure if that answers your question. If not. please say so.
How does solar power help the environment?
I need to know brielfy how solar power helps the environment for an english essay. So if someone could help me that would be great! Thanks. ![]()
The way that solar power helps the environment is that it uses no fossil fuels (which is a nonrenewable resource) to make energy, which would release carbon dioxide. Instead, it uses the biggest and biggest renewable resource on the planet, the sun! There is no emissions with solar energy, except heat, if that even counts as emissions
If I have solar panels for electricity, will I still have to be hooked up to the electric company?
In other words, is it possible to power all of my appliances and household equipment with electricity from solar panels? Or will I still have to do business with th electric company?
You would need a huge number of solar panels to provide all your electricity needs. Especially in the winter when much sunlight is blocked by clouds.
In short, you would still have to do business with the electric company.
Epa Establishes Alternative Fuel Standard
As part of President George W. Bush’s Twenty in Ten initiative that aims to reduce gasoline consumption in the United States up to 20 percent in the next ten years, Bush Administration’s established the Alternative Fuel Standard (AFS) that will require companies including car manufacturer’s to utilize about 35 billion gallons of renewable and alternative fuels in 2017.
In regards with this, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has also established the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), the country’s first ever comprehensive renewable fuel standard initiative. The RFS program was presented to the public during a recently press conference held last April 10, 2007 conducted by EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator (NHTSA), along with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Here is what the officials of the three government agencies have to say.
Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman:
“Increasing the use of renewable and alternative fuels to power our nation’s vehicles will help meet the President’s Twenty in Ten goal of reducing gasoline usage by 20 percent in ten years. The Administration’s sustained commitment to technology investment will bring a variety of alternative fuel sources to market and further reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign sources of energy.”
Meanwhile, Nicole R. Nason, Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said: “While we must look at increasing the availability of renewable and alternative fuels, we must also continue to improve the fuel efficiency of our passenger cars and light trucks. As a part of the President’s “20 in 10″ energy security plan, we need Congress to give the Secretary of Transportation the authority to reform the current passenger car fuel economy standard.”
The main objective of the RFS program is to promote the use of alternative fuels like ethanol and biodiesel that can be abundantly produced from agricultural crops found all over the U.S. including corn, soy beans, sugar cane, and other vegetables. Some of the initiatives, requirements, and other objectives of the RFS program include: motor vehicles sold in the U.S. by 2012 should run on about 7.5 billion gallons renewable fuel mixed with conventional fuel (like diesel or gasoline); reduce the utilization of petroleum-based fuel up to 3.9 billion gallons; reduce the harmful emissions and greenhouse gasses by 13.1 million metric tons by 2012; and reduce gasoline use by approximately 20 percent after the next ten years.
With the RFS program implemented, we might see a Jeep model with quality Jeep steering damper that runs on ethanol or biodiesel fuel.
