PostHeaderIcon Alternative Cancer Treatment

Alternative cancer treatments are being utilized by millions of patients, either as a sole therapy or as an additional therapy along with the traditional therapies. Patients are now seeking alternative cancer treatments at just about any and every stage of their disease from initial diagnosis to late stage.

Traditional treatments, which are somewhat less toxic than in the past, can in fact be miserable ordeals. The success of these treatments is either overstated or understated. But one thing is clear…the most promising programs are the ones that integrate traditional and alternative cancer treatments. There are practitioners trained and licensed in traditional medicine that also posses experience with alternative cancer treatments. They are making the greatest progress in the fight against cancer. They design individualized programs for each patient.

Alternative cancer treatments include, but are not limited to the following and most are of questionable benefit: biological and pharmacologic therapie such as– antineoplastans, Gaston Naessens, Revici, and hydrazine sulfate; immune therapies such as -immuno-augmentative, and Issel’s whole body therapy; herbal therapies such as -Hoxsey, Essiac, mistletoe, Pau d’Arco, and chaparral; nutritional therapies such as -wheatgrass, macrobiotics, Moerman’s anti-cancer diet; metabolic therapies such as -Gerson, Kelley’s, and Hans Nieper; adjunctive therapies such as -oxygen, ozone, hyperthermia, DMSO, chelation, and live cell; energy medicine such as -bioelectric, homeopathy, ayurveda, and Chinese medicine.

Also to be considered is the mind-body approaches. The most successful of practitioners will integrate various components of the alternative cancer treatments listed without being committed to a particular program.

Research and read everything you can on this subject. Seek out competent and compassionate counsel.

There is research to prove that cancer doctors spend an average of 1.3 minutes to answer their patients’ questions. Cancer requires a great deal more study and reflection since everyone truly is unique and deserves personal attention.

There is no one simple formula for success with cancer. People have overcome cancer by using conventional treatments and still others had success with experimental chemotherapy. And then, some people were successful using CAM. But in general, it seems that the majority of survivors are independent thinkers. Doctors often refer to them as ‘problem patients’. Their hopeful stories can keep you committed and inspired.

PostHeaderIcon Metal hydrides as alternative energy source?

I have an oral presentation to do on Metal hydrides as an alternative energy source. I tried to do some research on metal hydrides and all I come up with are published scientific research papers and people selling cells of metal hydrides.

I don’t want you to do my homework for me; I want to do it myself. But, could someone give me like an introduction or overview of Why/how is metal hydrides an energy source?

Thanks and 10 points for best answer!

From what little I know, they’re a powerful type of battery. Pretty much any chemical reaction that can be done in a sealed container can be used as a battery. It’s a matter of how much energy can be made in a small amount of space.

PostHeaderIcon Where can I find Solar Power Information?

I’m looking for ways to save some money on my electrical and gas bill at home. I’ve heard that solar power is a great way to do that, but it looks pretty expensive to have it installed. I’m thinking that I may have to spend some time installing it myself. Where can I find Solar Power Information to install my own solar power equipment?

Solar power is a great way to save money on power bills. For instance, I had a solar water heater installed for my pool. It uses the sun’s energy to keep my pool heated throughout the day, even during the winter. It’s really nice having a warm pool to jump into, even during the winter when it’s cooler.

But anyways, I installed the solar water heater myself. It’s fairly easy, and the trick is to find a good deal on the equipment. However, once you have the right equipment, you’ll need to find the right solar power information. Awhile back I found some good books that will help you with your solar projects. It’s been extremely helpful for me, so I hope it works out for you too, especially if you’re looking to try and save some money from your power bill. Check out the sources section below.

PostHeaderIcon Alternative Medicine Treatment – The Basics

Alternative medicine is a term that refers to medical practices outside of conventional medicine. Alternative solutions are sometimes new and untested in the scientific realm of conventional medicine, stamped with approval of the federal government. Also, they sometimes focus around or contain a religious, spiritual or metaphysical element. Here are some popular alternative medicinal solutions.

Acupuncture – This is the art of inserting tiny needles underneath the skin that stimulate targeted body spots. Acupuncture is most often used to relieve pain and heal the body.

Apitherapy – Better known as Bee Therapy, this practice makes use of honey and venom from the honeybee for treatments. Popular ones for health and beauty products and healing treatments are raw honey, bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis.

Biofeedback – This refers to a machine that gives feedback on the body. The feedback helps healthcare providers chart bodily functions to help with treatment. These machines are used to chart internal functions with more accuracy than a human alone is capable of, and the results are used to determine and then gauge how well the treatment is working. Biofeedback has been used to help people with their emotional disorders, digestive disorders, stress, migraines and heart irregularities. The machine alerts people to the idea of how their own emotions and thoughts can come into play with regards to illness and treatment options.

Chiropractics – This form of back treatment has been around for awhile and focuses on the vertebrae not being aligned properly, thus contributing to a variety of pain, illnesses and diseases. Many also focus on stress, overall health and lifestyle. In general, a chiropractor applies pressure in small amounts to various vertebrae, helping them realign. Plus many help treat common diseases like asthma, troubled backs and arthritis.

Feng Shui – This is a philosophy that is said to bring harmony into lives, that features not only the four basic elements of earth, fire, water and air, but a fifth; metal. By aligning these elements throughout clutter-free homes, work, outdoor and other environments, peace and tranquility are said to follow.

Healing Crystals – These minerals turned crystalline are said to boast certain healing powers. For example, ancient grave sites house them as a means of protection in the afterlife. In the modern world, many believe these crystals house healing power. For example, to treat stomach pain, some healers place charged quartz on the lower abdomen area to help restore energy there.

Herbal Remedies – Applying herbs, either home grown or store bought, to certain ailments helps with healing for many conditions. Among popular treatments are a half-and-half solution of witch hazel and water to help clear up acne, lavender scented oils and candles to sooth stress and garlic on top of warts to remove them.

There are many more alternative medicine treatments out there. Search your favorite search engine for more.

PostHeaderIcon Pet Health: Holistic and Alternative Medicine for Dogs & Cats

Research has shown that health is influenced by physical, mental, and emotional factors.

Holistic medicine includes an evaluation of diet, emotions, behavior, and lifestyle, in addition to the routine physical exam. Holistic Medicine is also
called Alternative Medicine and is an approach that deals with the whole patient, not just the presenting complaint.

The veterinarian will need to know as much as possible about your pet’s environment. History taking will include your dog’s living arrangements as well as past medical problems and treatments. Owners need to be prepared to answer questions concerning their pets fears, food preferences and emotions. The time of day a problem occurs is also an important factor in making a diagnosis. Vets will take extra time to discuss how to monitor results of specific therapies and how to determine whether or not certain environmental factors are influencing their pet’s health.

HERBALISM

Using plants and herbs for medicinal purposes is an ancient practice. You can cut up fresh herbs and mix them into the food, or use the liquid “tincture” form, which is the most potent and the best choice in most cases. Herbs can be used externally as dips and tonics for skin problems. They also have unique properties when it comes to stimulating the immune system for diseases like cancer that are largely un-treatable by traditional methods.

Certain herbs are potentially toxic at any dose and should be avoided. These include: Chaparral, Comfrey, Pennyroyal, Garlic, Tea Tree and Mahuang.

HOMEOPATHY

Homeopathists believe that giving an extremely dilute form of a substance similar to the one causing the symptoms, stimulates the body to overcome the illness itself. The remedies used are all natural and are derived from plants, minerals, or animal products. They are precisely diluted one part to 90 parts alcohol then vigorously shaken to become activated. The more dilute the remedy, the stronger it gets and the more intrinsic energy it releases. This energy rebalances the body’s “vital force” or “chi”, which stimulates the body’s immune system to heal itself.

You can buy most homeopathic remedies in a specific strength. The number after the name indicates the strength, for example, Arsenica album 6c. The remedies can be given as pellets or crushed to powder and given by mouth. They must be handled and given according to specific guidelines as they can easily become inactivated.

Homeopathic remedies are compatible with nutritional and chiropractic therapies. However, they should not be used with acupuncture or strong herbal tintures because they can inactivate each other. Working with a homepathic vet is essential for successful therapy.

OTHER ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES

There are many more alternative therapies than those described here including Aromatherapy, Detoxification, Magnetic Field Therapy and Energetic Therapies like Reiki. As traditional research continues to uncover the efficiency of these treatments, more will find their way into mainstream veterinary medicine.

FLOWER ESSENCES

Flower essences are diluted flower preparations that are used to treat behavioral problems, fears and other psychological problems, especially those associated with stress. They help to rebalance mental and emotional well-being. Originally, Edward Bach, a British physician in the 1930’s, developed 38 different flower essences, each of which was used to rebalance a different emotional situation. These essences are therefore also called Bach Flower Remedies.

Rescue Remedy is one of the most popular. It is a mixture of five flower essences and is commonly used after a physical or emotional trauma or a stressful situation. For example, with a dog stressed by a major change in his or her home life, two drops in or on the mouth or tongue two to three times daily is often an effective remedy. You can also put two to three drops into the water bowl. Most dogs relax and adjust to the change more easily.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is the insertion of needles into specific body points to stimulate the body’s immune system to heal itself. It is used to relieve pain caused by arthritic conditions like Hip Dysplasia and Spinal Disc Disease as well as skin allergies, Chronic Bowel Diseases and nervous disorders including Epilepsy. The relief is generally temporary and several treatments are often needed for positive results.

CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Chiropractic Care involves manipulating the spinal cord to adjust misplaced vertebrae that may be impinging on nerves and impeding movement. It can be useful to relieve musculoskeletal pain resulting from trauma and arthritis as well as other degenerative processes affecting the spine, joints, and bony skeleton.

NATUROPATHY

Naturopaths believe that diseases are caused by a buildup of toxins in the body. They recommend a regime of good nutrition and exercise combined with bathing, massage, and sunshine.

GLANDULAR THERAPY

These are biologically active nutritional supplements given as treats or mixed with food. Many contain glands from hormone secreting organs, such as the thyroid, and are used to stimulate a weakened gland to function normally. These are very safe.

PostHeaderIcon Alternative Medicine – New Way to Lose Weight

Weight loss is one of the big topics-no pun intended-on the late night television circuit. While flipping through the channels after 11p.m., you are likely to come across several advertisements for weight loss pills and diet supplements, each promising to assist you drop those unwanted pounds and remove stubborn belly fat once and for all.

Let’s face it, if these pills really worked, America wouldn’t be the top overweight country in the world.

There are types of alternative medicine, which can help with weight loss, however, and with great results. While no alternative medicine is a magic solution, practicing these principles can help you become more limber, feel more energetic, and the end result-or side effect if you will, is weight loss.

Take yoga for example. The low impact stretching involved with yoga will help you feel less stressed, and as a result less likely to over eat as a result of depression or anger. Acupuncture has exact pressure points in the ear which help reduce cravings, and detoxifying teas and herbs can help you feel healthier, and the side effect would be thinking twice before deciding that you want to “pollute” yourself again with oily and fatty foods. In this regard, alternative medicine is wonderful for loosing weight.

The majority alternative medicines for weight loss come in the form of detoxifying teas, energy supplements, and vitamins. The exercise and diet plans are the basis, as they should be, for safe and effective long-term weight loss. There is no magic potion to lose weight. In fact dropping pounds and keeping them off requires regular daily exercise and a change in eating habits, period.

However, to get you ready for weight loss, here are some alternative medicine detoxifying teas and interesting supplements.

Take turmeric, ginger, and lemon-about a half teaspoon each and the juice of half a lemon, and boil it all in 2 cups of water. Drink every morning as a detoxifier before you start your diet.

All diets should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, and buying a juicer is a great way to make a habit out of eating healthy. Please see your doctor before starting any kind of diet plan.

Visit your local food co op or herbalist, they can get you set up with all sorts of alternative teas and nutrition advice, and can refer you to a good homeopathic doctor who will evaluate you as to what your individual nutrition needs are.

Bovine and shark cartilage are two dietary supplements to hit the alternative market. Both have been used for years outside of the United States and Britain, but now are big business in the health food stores.

The most popular form of alternative medicine for weight loss isn’t really medicine at all, rather behavior modification through hypnosis. Hypnosis doesn’t make you rely on will power, that’s one of the reasons it’s so popular.

How hypnosis works is that it examines what is subconsciously holding you to the thinking and eating habits that keep you overweight. Hypnotists believe that if the root cause of the obesity can be alleviated, the patient will naturally begin to lose weight. It is actually a very efficient form of alternative medicine, and overall can cost much less than trips to day spas and expensive over the counter weight loss pills. Through hypnosis you can let go of fears that keep you from eating healthy, and begin to allow a positive energy flow through you, causing you to want to stick to the new way of eating and exercising.

PostHeaderIcon Treating Back Pain With Alternative Methods

Neck and back pain is a common occurrence these days. All of us have experienced it on more than one occasion. Sometimes it is a bad sleep at night, sometimes a long day at the office and at times a sudden jerk is what causes a neck or back pain. Injuries to neck and back can be quite debilitating, as they can prevent you from performing even the simplest of your functions. You might find it difficult to get up and go from one place to another, leave aside working.

What is worse is that our sedentary lives have made us prone to frequent neck and back injuries. This is because we work in stationary positions for much longer duration while our bodies are not strong enough to put up with this kind of abuse. Exercise is hardly a part of our daily lives, which leaves us too weak to tolerate the onslaught of modern life.

There is ample medical help available, but much like our modern life, it too comes with a number of side effects. Therefore, popping the pill is no longer a viable solution. Therefore, people are turning to alternative remedies in a big way.

Massage, meditation and acupuncture are among the most preferred alternative treatments primarily because they come with no side effects and can cure the problem instead of providing a short-lived, quick fix relief.

Acupuncture is fast gaining ground as the foremost alternative treatment for treatment method. For those who are unfamiliar with it, it is a treatment that involves the inserting of needles at crucial points in the body. The insertion of needles at these points cures the pain and discomfort. It is a painless process and has been found to be very effective.

Massage, too, is coming up as a great way to relieve pain. It is primarily because massage facilitates the flow of blood, which, in turn, helps the healing process to a large extent besides relaxing the tensed muscles.

Meditation is yet another alternative remedy though it calls for a high degree of self-discipline for one to be able to perform it. But once you start meditating successfully, it not only relieves back pain but also infuses one’s life with new energy.

Therefore, medication is not the only option you have for back pain relief. There are many more to choose from. And they come free of side effects. Choose the best one or use all or any of them in combination.

PostHeaderIcon Why is solar energy a renewable resource and also some advantages and disadvantages of using solar energy?

Please tell me some disadvantages and advantages of using solar energy. I also need to know why it is a renewable resource. Can you also tell me how much of of solar energy is left and how long it will last. Thank you so much. [Tell me some websites to vist about this information]

First, its all a guess but the sun will continue to shine for about another 2-4 billion years. So for all practical purposes, its eternal.
solar energy depends on sunshine, one disadvantage is cloudy, overcast, rainy, snow etc. days. No sunshine, no real energy. Another difficulty is converting solar energy, solar panels generate direct current (DC) and this has to be converted to AC current to run appliances, etc. in your house. In order to store solar energy, batteries are required, so the DC current from the solar panels can charge the batteries, and then the DC current must be converted to AC.
Solar panels are not cheap but the price is coming down. They also don’t last forever and can be damaged by hail, etc.
The good news is, solar energy is clean, not pollution except for the manufacture of the panels and for the moment, sunshine is still free.
